Dead bird

Thursday, 25 February 2010 02:56 by david

Here is a snippet from a recent sketch of mine for the cover of a magazine.
This particular concept was killed and they went with another illustration of mine.
But I really loved this bird and wanted to share.

No birds were harmed in the death of this concept.

Being Green

When the sky is your limit and get to do just about whatever you want,
I enjoy including friends and family in illustrations.
Over the past years you will find painted my daughters, dog, and more.
And now a new one, my friend and neighbor M'ten.

This Black Enterprise illustration was for an article on investing
in planet friendly companies and still making money.

Here is an illo for a magazine regarding bill H.R. 3590
I also included the reference shot I took on the computer.
I am so glad we don't need polaroids anymore.
YEAH computer!

Just look in the mirror

Friday, 15 January 2010 03:12 by david

I just started a year long stint with a publisher doing an illo for ever month.
When the director said they needed a painting of a "Fat Dude on a Bike"
I thought this would work. I always get stuck on colors, of mainly clothes. I
never thought of what clothes he should be wearing but looking down at my
attire, he sort of dressed himself. Never having a great self image of myself
it was easy to add these.
It was nice, my 2 year old girls even said, "that's a painting, you're my daddy."

Reference is always key!
